FAQs

Does temperature affect my battery performance?
Lithium-Ion batteries are resilient to cold temperatures. However, we always recommend charging and storing the battery in a safe, dry, room-temperature environment. Long-term cold weather use/storage can allow the internal temperature of the battery to drop away. If the internal temperature of the battery drops below -17°C voltage output may be reduced, and battery communication may be affected. However, if a cold battery is brought back into a safe, dry, room temperature environment and allowed to warm up (should take no more than 10-20 minutes) then there should be no long-term negative impact on battery performance or lifespan. Please note that we recommend placing the battery on the charger after it has returned to room temperature to ensure maximum charge when in use.
Can this unit be used on gravel?
We do not recommend using our single-stage snow throwers or our snow shovels on gravel surfaces. Gravel, stones, or any loose surface material will be picked up and thrown by the snow thrower, causing damage to the unit and potentially nearby property and people.
What is the recommended ambient temperature range?
Snow throwers can be stored at any temperature if the environment is sheltered (indoors) and dry. Batteries and chargers should always be stored indoors at room temperature.
How large of a driveway can be cleared with this product?
Our single-stage snow thrower kits are often supplied with enough battery capacity to cover the average 4-car driveway. It is important to note that the overall run time received is ultimately determined by the load acting against the unit and will fluctuate.
How difficult are Greenworks single-stage snow throwers to assemble?
Our units have been designed for quick and easy assembly! The majority of single-stage units can be assembled in approximately 15 minutes. All instructions are clearly detailed within the owner's manual supplied with your purchase. If you should have any questions or concerns, we would be happy to provide assistance.
My chute is clogged with snow, what should I do?
Heavy or icy snow may cause the discharge chute to become clogged while in use. If you do get a clog, DO NOT attempt to unclog it with your hands or feet. Instead, turn your machine off and wait at least 10 seconds for it to fully stop. Then, use a chute-clearing brush or a similar object to clear the clog (not included). Operating Tip: If you notice that the chute is clogging often, try adjusting the angle of the chute and impeller speed (if applicable).
How far can the snow thrower discharge snow?
The distance that snow is thrown varies depending on the type of snow, wind, and angle of the chute deflector. Light snow will have a greater throwing distance in comparison to wet/heavy snowfalls.
Are skid shoes wearable parts?
Yes. Greenworks skid shoes are wearable; wearable parts carry a 90-day warranty against wear and tear.
What battery is compatible with this tool?
Only Greenworks batteries, chargers, and machines of the same voltage are compatible and interchangeable with one another. Please be advised that the higher the ampere-hour (Ah) rating is on a battery, the more run time it can provide.
Can it be used on slopes or hills?
Yes, this unit can be operated on slopes and or hills. Always exercise extreme caution when operating on slopes and ensure you have proper footing and balance at all times.
Can I put chains on the tires to prevent slipping?
No, the wheels on our single-stage snow thrower models are not designed for use with tire chains.
What are the benefits of having an adjustable impeller speed?
The benefit of having an adjustable impeller speed ensures that the unit can be used in a variety of areas and conditions. A lower auger speed usually translates to a smaller throwing distance - low speed also gives the user more control so that you can direct the snow where you want and avoid overshooting or re-covering previously cleared areas. When operating the unit at a higher speed, you can throw the snow further when the space allows and clear the area more quickly. Operating Tip: If you notice that the chute is clogging often, try speeding up the auger.
What is the impeller made of?
Most Greenworks impellers are made of plastic. The exception is the Greenworks 80V 22”, which uses a metal/rubber impeller assembly. The dual-stage models use fully metal impellers.
Is it difficult to use snow shovel/thrower with an extension cord?
It does take time to get used to having a cord attach to your snow shovel, we suggest keeping the electric cord as close to the outlet as you can and then move away from the outlet, so the slack always stay on the side you are moving away from or put the cord over your shoulder. That way it is always behind you while using the snow shovel but over time it will get easier to manage.
What are the benefits of a circular cord head?
The benefit of a circular cord head; the head of the power cable is designed to be circular; this is to ensure the power cable from the unit can securely hold an extension cord and to reduce any chance of moisture or snow from getting into the two parts. The head of the power cord is flexible, any universal single head outdoor extension cord will fit, simply squeeze the sides, and insert the extension cord.
Are the Skid Plates wearable? What are they made of?
Greenworks skid plates are a wearable; wearable parts carry a 90-day warranty against wear and tear. Most of our units have a metal skid plates except for our 22" snow thrower models which have a nylon design.
Can you lubricate the snow chute to throw snow further?
Lubricant can be used to reduce clogging which can prevent the snow thrower from throwing at capacity. However, please keep in mind the heavier the snow the less it will be thrown. To reduce the issues with snow clogging which can affect performance you can use an ice repellent or Teflon spray.

Powerful 80V battery snow thrower praised for quiet operation and ease of use. Customers said it "cleared our deck speedily and cleanly" and handles up to 13" of snow. Lightweight and maneuverable. Common concerns: plastic scraper breaks easily, parts availability issues, struggles with wet/heavy snow, and limited throwing distance.

I had other battery snowblowers in the past that seemed not to work so well when there was heavy snow. I decided to more recently watch more YouTube reviews of battery snowblowers which this Greenworks 80v 22” had great videos at a price I could afford. I sure like the chute control on the right side. I really like the quick release for the handle for better storage as you can see in the photo for a tight space in my garage. I was pleasantly surprised with not pushing this snowblower to hard was able to handle around a foot of heavy packing snow including what the street plow left at the end of the driveway and front sidewalk to the street. As a back saver tip, I tipped the box sideways then pulled the snowblower out to assemble it. Why I am giving this a 4 is for the instruction manual is super small which fortunately I was able to download a PDF file on Amazon and watch YouTube reviews.

22" 80v Brushless snow blower Pro.

Just cleared our deck after 10" snowfall, deeper in places.
I was sceptical about battery blowers for a long time. Well to say I am pleased with this unit is an understatement. Cleaned off our deck speedily and cleanly, not faltering once. Deck is 30' X 12' I keep it on the deck under a cover, batteries indoors.
I would recommend this to anyone.

Stay Away from this product

I purchased this snow thrower 5 years ago. It came in handy many times, but I didn’t realize how cheaply made the scraper kit is.. I always wondered why it didn’t have smooth operation and then one day. I turned it over and realized that the scraper was broken. I don’t know how long I was using it this way, but it never really seemed to do the greatest job until I called Greenworks, they shipped me out a new scraper. It was used twice before it broke again. You don’t have to take my word for it. There are countless reviews talking about this scraper and green Works does not keep it in stock essentially making the snow thrower useless. Buyer be warned. This snow thrower could benefit from a metal scraper instead of the cheap plastic one that breaks time and time again. I own many green works products and have spoken highly about their products for years, but I cannot in good faith recommend this brand and will be returning my other green Work products that I purchased at Costco because of Costco‘s incredible return policy I will hopefully get my money back.

Hello Rob Taglia. Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand your frustration with the scraper on your 80V 22' Brushless Snow Thrower. Please note that a 5-year-old unit would typically be out of warranty, and snow throwers include wearable parts designed to protect the auger and housing.
Even though your unit was out of warranty, we were happy to send a replacement scraper to ensure your snow thrower could continue to operate. For reference, the scraper part number is R0200650-00, and it can be purchased directly here (https://www.greenworkstools.com/products/scraper-kit) once it is back in stock. We encourage customers to regularly inspect and replace wearable parts as needed, and we appreciate feedback on ways to improve product durability. We hope you will find this information helpful. If you require any additional support or have questions regarding a product, we recommend trying our Q&A section on products' page or Chat with us direct on our website www.greenworkstoolv.com.
Our team is always available to assist with questions or concerns regarding replacement parts and support.

Great product: 2 yrs old: performs very well, but need a new belt

Where can a belt be found in Winnipeg (preferred)
- or online?

Product was purchased at Costco in Winnipeg
Winnipeg just got another dump of snow and a local order is preferred over online sources.

Hope hope you can help.

Finding parts?

Hi Greenworks. I bought one of these last year. I have no issue with the machine with the exception that the scraper is thin plastic and I suppose it's expected to replace it multiple times over the life of the machine. Part #341271495 and I can't find one anywhere. Your own website took down the page for the part as Google finds the page but I get a 404 error on it. So you're still selling this model but can't get parts for it??

Does not throw snow very far.

This snow thrower does the job but only throws the snow half a meter. I expected it to throw snow like it's advertises. A snow shovel would throw snow further based on my observations.

Hi Customer. Thank you for your feedback. We can recommend applying a thin layer of 'snow and ice repellant spray' to ensure there is no build-up of snow or ice on the impeller and the chute. This will help the snow achieve the furthest distance when operating. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. You can reach us via live chat or give us a call at our toll-free helpline: 1-888-90-WORKS (1-888-909-6757) to speak with a live agent. We hope this information has been helpful!

Delay in delivering

I ordered this and it is not delivered. When I called Greenworks, they said delay with Purolator and asked to reach them. They did not cancel order. I kept on waiting with snow storms coming and going and shoveling with my hand. Worst place to order is Greenworks website.

Hi Chaitanya. Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you have not yet received the unit. We appreciate your patience as we work to find a solution. An inquiry has been sent to Purolator, please make sure to check your inbox for the most recent communication. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please reach us via chat or by calling our toll-free helpline at 1-888-90-WORKS (1-888-909-6757) to speak with a live agent. We hope this helped!

Daddy’s Happy!!!

When you pull this thing out of your warm garage. Let it sit outside for 10 minutes to cool off so snow doesn’t stick to it. That said. It works well enough. We have a corner lot with 70 meters of side walk and with 3 car parking. This is a big help when we get larger dumps of snow and it needs to be blown away. It came with two wrong sized lock nuts and I had to goto the local hardware store and get the proper nuts. I’m still giving it 5 stars because that was super minor and the machine is working perfectly and very reasonably priced for the value.

Missing Parts

we have not used this snow thrower yet because it arrived without the proper hardware to assemble it. However, the customer service is amazing and they solved our problem easily and without any trouble!

Very pleased with focus on customer relationship

This is an update to my original feedback. I had purchased this snow thrower at full price, and just a few days later—while it was still in transit and not yet delivered—the company reduced its price by 20% as part of their sitewide sale. When I called Customer Service to request a price adjustment, they initially refused and indicated my only recourse was to return the product once it arrived and repurchase it at the lower price. This approach was not feasible for me as a senior, given the large box was too difficult for me to lift and arrange for return. Consequently, I was very disappointed with this outcome particularly given I’ve been a loyal Greenworks customer for years, owning a variety of their tools.

Based on my original feedback, the Customer Service team reviewed my situation and provided me with a courtesy price adjustment. I am very pleased with this experience as it demonstrates the company treats its customer feedback and loyalty seriously and seeks to deal with its customers fairly.

Poor build quality

Great little machine for light jobs. However, mine has several issues after only about 3 uses. The light no longer works (which I don't really care about). The chute will not turn a full 180 degrees. Finally, the battery keeps popping out. It latches fine but as you're using it, it pops out and you constantly have to push it back down. If I didn't already have so many batteries (as I have other Greenworks products), I would jump ship to another brand.

simply does not work, I'm disppointed

One star is being generous
It stucks always with snow, then work after. il happens today my driveway full of snow, it worked for 2 min and stopped, it makes noice, but impeller is not moving anymore
Even, I don't force the machine, so I use it when snow is fluffy.

there's no way to send an email to customer support.

I like battery machines, but I'm disappointed with this, greenworks should help clients with more support otherwise advise us to leave that one and help us to buy more robust one.

One star is being generous

This is our second time buying one of these machines and we get the same result with both. It will work once or twice but then just stops. When you try to start it up, you hear a clicking sound, but that’s about it. We have several greenworks products that all work fantastic but this one definitely has a flaw. After doing our own research, we are not alone, as there are several people that are getting the same result we are. The customer service is almost nonexistent, and they seem very uninterested in trying to resolve the problem. We are now stuck with this hunk of plastic and a driveway, full of snow. Don’t bother with his machine, he will be very disappointed.

Simply does not work!!!

Ordered this from Best Buy. The box came somewhat roughed up but the inside product was fine however once it was fully put together nothing. It doesn't work at all. Yes the battery is charged and all troubleshooting has been done still nothing. We registered it today as well and are going to have to look into the warranty. We have loads of other Greenworks tools and machines but none have flat out not worked. I am thankful that we are nowhere near snow season and am hoping to get this issue taken care of.

Pretty good but some key parts need to be more durable

I've had this for 2 months now with a variety of snow storms. Most recently had over a foot of very wet snow and had to clear it a couple of times as it snowed so it wouldn't be too deep for the snowblower. It handled it pretty well had to clear the chute several times but that's too be expected. It was challenging pushing it uphill in deep snow but still got it done. I do our drive and several neighbors so I go through multiple charges. After cooling after each use the batteries charge quickly. My key issue is that after two months the scrape plate has broken and the blades are starting to shred. Not sure why the scrapeplate is plastic but in my experience it is not durable.I'll be returning mine.

This is a must get! No more smelling like gas fumes when done. No more noise and ear buzzing. You can use this at night or early morning and not wake the neighbors. No more filters and carburetors. And this unit is MORE powerful than any gas blower I have ever used. I cleared my driveway today/and walks in half the time, and no need to change clothes afterwards because of the gas fume smell we get from the traditional gas fueled units. I also bought the mower, leaf blower and trimmer. This was the final "investment" into the battery yard tools, and so glad I made it!!!

Defective Battery

Bought the snow blower and 2 batteries in the Fall of 2022. Didn't have to use it that Winter. Used it yesterday and one of the 2 batteries I bought is defective. Snow blower is great but not if it can't be powered. I need 2 batteries to cover the area.

Disappointment.

First time use of this snowblower. About 4 inches of snow. Not power but not particularly wet either. Blower could not handle it. Maybe this blower can handle 13 inches of powder as advertised. Remains to be seen. Init could not handle 4 inches of what I consider normal snow.

Terrible design

I bought this a year ago. The design is terrible. If you try to move anything icy with it the scraper bar will break. Eventually the plastic behind the beater will wear through and then the snowblower is history. I have a lawn trimmer and this snowblower from Greenworks. They know how to do electric but have know clue how to build tools. Both pieces I own are junk.

Crazy Strong!

You get more than you pay for with this snow blower I have owned Toro self propelled two stage Toro single stage and now this. I do not miss the Toros at all this thing chews through everything I can throw at it. Its much lighter easier to handle and super quiet!

Blows Snow Well But Leaves Too Much Behind

I have several Greenworks 80V products and I've loved them. I don't feel the same about this snow blower and I'm hoping to get this resolved. Leaves 3/4 in of Snow BehindI'm really disappointed that it leaves so much snow behind. See the image. Handle is Tough to WorkThe handle feels like it is going to break when turning the blowing direction and it requires too much force at least compared to other models both Greenworks brand and others I've tried. InstructionsThe instructions were terrible. I put together another Greenworks snow blower a month or two ago (the 20 version) and it was quick. The instructions were super confusing and cost me an extra hour or so of cold frustration in my garage.Missing SpringsThe green handle on the dispenser needs springs but they weren't included. I searched everywhere in the box and never saw them.Blows Snow WellOne good thing is that the snow that makes it into the blower is blown well. Seems like a decent machine just needs a few tweaks for me to actually like it.

Love It! - It Really Throws the White Stuff!

Love It! Exactly what I wanted. I have a Toro single Stage (3hp) and bought this to replace. It has as much power and works better. This can really throw the snow. I used it to clear 3 heavy wet snow and 11 of light fluffy show. Work well in both situation.Only down side I wish that it switched between two batteries - not just a storage for the second battery.
