FAQs

Is it difficult to use snow shovel/thrower with an extension cord?
It does take time to get used to having a cord attach to your snow shovel, we suggest keeping the electric cord as close to the outlet as you can and then move away from the outlet, so the slack always stays on the side you are moving away from or put the cord over your shoulder. That way it is always behind you while using the snow shovel but over time it will get easier to manage.
Can I use my Snow Shovel on uneven pavement?
We do not recommend using this snow shovel on uneven or non-paved areas. It works best on smooth and flat surface areas. As the operator works along the uneven surface, the tool will need to be lifted to avoid contact. Contact to non-paved areas will damage the scraper faster the more the unit makes hard contact.
Does the Snow Shovel have a chute?
The Snow Shovel is not equipped with a chute; it is a light duty unit, perfect for light to moderate snow conditions. We suggest directing the snow in front or to either side by pushing the snow shovel forward so that it rides on the scraper. The direction of the snow is changed when the user turns the shovel.
Why won’t my snow shovel start?
The tool is equipped with a safety start up feature. The units will only start when the following sequence is done: 1.Verify that the battery pack is inserted into the battery compartment. 2.Press and hold the lock-out button 3.While holding the lock-out button, press and hold the trigger switch. Please note, the Snow Shovel will not start if the lock-out button is not held until the trigger switch is lifted. Once trigger is pressed and unit is started, release the lock-out button.
Can I use my Snow Shovel on stairs?
Snow shovels are an effective tool for clearing steps and decks with ease. They are lightweight, gasless, and easy to start, so almost anyone can operate them.

Customers said this "powerful" snow shovel "throws snow 15-20 feet" and is "amazing" for decks, sidewalks, and small driveways. Many praised it as a "backsaver" that's easy to use. However, several noted it's heavier than expected and lacks a deflector, causing snow to land on neighbors' property in residential areas. Battery life averages 30-45 minutes. Some desire wheels for easier maneuverability.

First time using it and it’s more than powerful enough to move snow!! Remains to be seen if it holds up after multiple seasons and heavier usage, but it feels very sturdy and well built. It is a little heavier than expected, but certainly manageable.

Two areas that would really make this product perfect would be 1) a snow (output) deflector to help lower or better manage the height or the snow coming out. And 2) some sort of wheel or roller base, to make it easier to go back and forth when clearing a lot of snow.

DON'T Buy this if you live in a residential neighborhood

This thing throw snow well. TOO WELL. The biggest problem that essentially makes it a giant waste of money for me is that it's design is HORRIBLE. The design doesn't push the snow up and in an arc like say a snowblower does, instead it just launches it in a straight line. This a HUGE problem because in any normal residential area as the thing is going to launch the snow so far that it ends up in your NEIGHBOR's drive way if you go horizontally back and fourth. Which means your only option is to go up and down vertically on your driveway. Which also isn't really an option because launching the snow to the base of your garage door isn't useful and launching it on the road is illegal in most places. Thus, there is no direction I can point this thing and actually use it. Who on your design team though that making it launch snow like 50 feet away was a good idea?

Just buy a normal snowblower if you are thinking about this unless you are living in an area with massive front yards or in rural. (though if you are in rural, this is probably way too small to be useful to you)

60v snow shovel

This is a powerful thrower however, it needs a deflector. I'm in a residential
neighborhood and its throwing snow on both my neighbors property and vehicles. If it was in the country it wouldn't matter. I have 3 other Greenworks products and I'm very happy with them.

Nearly Perfect

I have lower back issues and I live in the upper midwest where we can get snows of 4 to 12 inches at times. I bought this and it arrived right before a fair bit of snow fell about 5 inches. I have a relatively medium porch sidewalk and driveway. I was able to do all of it in just under 20 minutes. Ordinarilly this task would have had me reeling with back pain for the rest of the day but with this tool I was able to just walk back into the house like nothing happened. My ONLY gripes are with the plastic turning/throwing mechanism's plastic and fragile design as I have acorns pebbles and rocks near my driveway that chipped away at it a little. The second is that this did not come with a battery and they are fairly expensive to get individually.

So good I got one for my brother in law for Christmas as well.

I bought this back in early 2021 and it's been exceptional so good that I got one for my brother in law for Christmas and he also loves it! Run time for the 4.0 AH battery is about an hour. Works really well for pathways small driveways decks; probably not a great tool for a long and / or wide driveway as it would take a while and likely a couple battery charges.

Perfect for our deck

We use this on our wooden deck. Throws far and is perfect for this purpose. Gets a little heavy but does the job!

Great cordless snow shovel

Bought the 60 Volt because the 80 volt was out of stock. Have used the snow shovel 4 times now in snow varying from 2 in to 10 in. Works great for clearing the snow from my garage pad and sidewalks. I live in Michigan. Outdoor temperatures have been from -6 to 28 degrees F. My cleaning last for 45 minutes and uses half of 6 amp hour battery.

WOW. Little package packs a BIG punch

WOW !!!That's all I can say about this awesome show shovel.I purchased this during the 12 days of Christmas promotion and went with the snow shovel over the full size snow blower because here in Oklahoma we don't get a lot of snow and figured with the smaller size it would number easier to store also. Well the small size doesn't mean small performance. Took this to work this morning because we are forecasted to get about 10 inches of snow which is unheard of in Oklahoma. I Work at Walmart for grocery curbside pickup. I figured it would be easier to use on the sidewalks then a normal snow shovel. Well as soon as I took it back to my area one of the associates I work with wanted to try it so She was actually the first person to use it. I think about 5 people took turns and all fell in love with it. The department manager from lawn and garden (who got me interested in greenworks) that works on the other side of the store even had to come over and try it out. Even had several customers stop asking were I got it so had to keep going outside in negative 5 degree windshield to let then know where and even told them to use the code love tools for the extra 15% off.

Not a bad tool but depending on your needs this could be almost useless

As a first time buyer of snow removal tool I strongly regret getting this shovel. The reason I'm still giving it a 3-star is because it's technically not the tool's design but rather the limitations of such shovels. If you have anything more than 15-20 minutes worth of snow shoveling this tool is not a good fit. The reason is that you cannot throw it at any angle and it can only go straight forward and this is a huge problem if you are trying to do sidewalks which tend to be long. If there is any wind it could also throw the snow back in your face or in areas where you don't want. Also unlike the snow blower tools which have wheels you have to somewhat carry/lift this thing which is quite heavy again causing more work than you want.

Save your money. Totally Useless!

Total waste of money. Needs wheels to make it easier to move. Only blowing snow in one direction is a big handicap. If snow is wet just pushes snow in front of it. Totally useless!!!

Poor advertisement!!

Well I am glad to be able to make comments!! I purchased this unit as a grift. But upon receipt there was no battery nor battery charger. Apparently these required accessories were not part of my purchase?! Incredible I was not aware that this may be a separate purchase and the person I bought it for notified me that they may have to pay another $150.00 for the battery and charger. This is unacceptable! So I would appreciate either taking this unit back to your distribution center or supplying my friend with the battery/charger to effectively utilize the unit that I gifted him! Owen B. Ease of use power.

Great shovel like all other greenworks products. I own 4 greenworks products since getting rid of all the horrible gas and electric things. Will continue to buy these products as well as the warranty that is great.

Easy to use

Tool was a little heavier than what I expected. Not a huge concern just moved the adjustable handle lower. Perfect tool to help clear my deck off. It just glides smoothly. Great purchase my wife also loves it!

Perfect!

Just used this for 6inch of snow in Frederick MD. It was perfect. Easy to use sends snow FLYING! My kid loved running under the snow shower it created. Only downside is its heavy to carry from my driveway to sidewalk etc. Really happy with this purchase. I know in a few years ill be back for the snow blower! 1 battery for my lawn mower string trimmer and snow thrower!

Works exactly as described!

Product works exactly as described. It shoots snow 15-20 ft away. I was using it on 4 of snow. I only wish it was wider. I feel like with the power of the 60v they could have made it an 18-24 snow shovel. Always very happy with green works!

Much more powerful than expected!

Used it for two snows now one light and one heavy wet snow. Was surprised it could toss the wet snow 10feet and over very easily. One 4mah battery lasted for over 30 minutes of use. very handy to get stairs and patios where taking the big blower is not simple. Highly recommended!!

60V 12 Snow Shovel

Surprising power - threw snow 15-20 feet. It even handled snow that was 8 deep. You wouldn’t want to do a driveway with this (only 12 wide) but it was excellent for decks and walkways. Can run for 45 min with 2ah battery so I recommend you have 2 of those or get a 5 or 6ah battery (if you can find one). Highly recommend this for intended purpose

makes clearly snow fun

great snow throwing distance. It would be nice to have locking mechanism to keep trigger down inside of having to hold it down the whole time. Also handle for easy battery removal would great

More power than expected

I just got it but most of the snow melted away had a small drift of hard packed snow on my deck about 3 deep and even when the snow was hard and crusty it pushed right thru it as easy as pie. I admit it didn't sound very powerful sounded kinda slow to me but it ate the snow much better than I expected. I am using the Greenworks 4.0 amp battery. Very happy with Greenworks so far and slowly making Greenworks my favorite brand.

Works surprisingly well

Bought this to use for clearing my deck and porch. It works great. It surprised me with it’s power.I can store it handily in my enclosed porch instead of out in my shed where I have to store my gas powered tools.

Game changer!

This is one powerful handheld machine that can get the job done! I was able to clear my driveway and sidewalk areas in 30 min and actually look forward to clearing snow for my neighbors! Keep in mind the width of 12 is shorter than the average snowblower. However the versatility in using it to snow blow a driveway to sidewalk to porch is unbeatable!
